It happened to me recently. I was telling someonehow much I had enjoyed reading Barack Obama’s Dreams From My Father and how ithad changed my views of our President. A friend I was talking to agreed with methat it was, in his words, “a brilliantly written book”. However, hethen went on to talk about Mr Obama in a way which suggested he had no idea ofhis background at all. I sensed that I was talking to a book liar.

Abook liar：一个说他读过某本书但事实上并没读的人。
日常，这种人大有人在。比如某某人说，我读过《红楼梦》已经5遍了，里面的人物了如指掌。其实，估计他一遍都没读下来。对人物可能是通过电视剧略知一二。
我本人也是学中文的。我对《红楼梦》只读过一遍，而且是非常勉强的，由于这是必念书目，还要写毕业论文，所以不能已而为之。
